The Ripple Effect of your Behaviors

Throughout the last decade the phrase "Ripple Effect" has circulated through the internet, TV/Movies, and many books. In all of the stories some minor change in an event or idea caused a number of factors to change down the line. In each of these stories there is a common factor- the main character. It is always he that causes a profound change in someone else's life. Because the main character makes a minor adjustment of their action, the resonating waves of change alter many other outcomes. MAN is always the common factor in every ripple effect story.
The question then becomes - What causes you to change your course of action?
Callender Inc developed the Push n' Pull strategy to help people develop open ended discussions. This 1st quarter we have focused on how "your ethics" is the most important characteristic of "you". Ultimately without "you" there is no "us" or "them".
Your ethics allow you to do something because you believe something. When you share these beliefs then you are causing discussion and thinking. There is an astounding truth behind shared thinking and the benefits of doing the sharing. Shared thinking should be implemented just as it states, SHARED. Your values and beliefs are not any more important than any one else's. We should be careful to listen and filter accordingly. How you present your values/ethics will be the first resonating wave that sweeps off of you and defines who you are and what you stand for.
Our attitude is the next characteristic that we need to learn to hone in. When a person begins to think critically whether it's a large or small instance, feeling are involved.
Ponder this phrase... A persons thoughts are controlled by his/her feelings. After saying this, we can all understand that we are emotionally involved. Being emotionally evolved does not give us the right to be negative or abrupt with our opinions/feeling. Remember your attitude can be the deciding factor on whether you succeed or fail. In saying this, I do not believe that if you have a good attitude that you will never fail. What matters is that when you fail, you get right back up and try again. Many leaders failed multiple times before being successful, their "no quit" attitude eventually lead them to success. As mentors we should never forget that hardships provide learning platforms. "What does not kill us, only makes us stronger"-- Friedrich Nietzche
As mentors/leaders our actions "speak louder" than any of our words ever will. Act intentionally because as we develop these roles we are being gauged by others. If we are wise in our actions then our behaviors will be intentional. Most of our behaviors are learned behaviors and have become habit. If you are not acting in a way that becomes you then you are only undermining yourself. The commitment stamp that you use every day is a device that employs you to act intentionally. Remember it is more important to "Do as you say, and say as you do."
Communication is our last ripple that resounds off of us that can make or break a situation. It is also a very powerful tool. As stated prior, Callender Inc.'s Push n' Pull was developed to help with effective discussion. The information that you have stored has to be presented in a way that is understood by another. In the last few years many companies have implemented communication tools that identify and teach how to overcome learning barriers. Some of the key points in communication are how others attain information and their willingness to listen to feedback. Ultimately, we learn through shared thinking so be open to the way others think and communicate.
On the diagram below you can see that you are conducting a line of events. Because you are always this conductor you must act intentionally with your behavior to design a more productive environment. Changing your habits is not always easy but it's worth the investment. By applying these behaviors of life, (Values, Attitude, Actions, and Communication) you can intentionally alter your ripple effect to positively influence others ripple effect. These behaviors are individually and collaboratively important. We are just a spec in the ripple effect of life, and yet our behaviors adversely affect many others.
